National Esports Tournament Participates in Schulich’s Sports, Media & Entertainment Career Fair

The Schulich School of Business hosted the 11th Annual Sports, Media & Entertainment Career Fair on January 29, 2026, continuing its role as Canada’s leading academic bridge between students and the professional sport, media, and entertainment industries.

Presented by the Schulich Sports Business Association (SSBA), the event has become the only career fair in Canada dedicated exclusively to careers in sport, media, and entertainment  and the 2026 edition was expected to be the largest yet.

A Room Filled With Industry Leaders

This year’s fair brought together a record number of organizations spanning professional sport, broadcast media, live entertainment, marketing, and consulting. Participating and expected organizations included industry leaders such as Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, Rogers Sports & Media, Live Nation Entertainment Canada, CBC, and NFL Canada.

Being present alongside organizations of this caliber reflects the growing convergence between traditional sport, media, entertainment, and esports and the increasing demand for talent that understands all four.

Connecting With the Next Generation

The Fair welcomed both undergraduate and graduate students interested in a wide range of functional areas, including:

  • Marketing and digital media

  • Content and communications

  • Sales and business development

  • Event and operations management

  • Analytics and strategy

  • Finance and human resources

At our booth, we had the opportunity to speak with students exploring careers in esports, live events, media production, and emerging digital ecosystems. Many were not only job-seeking, but actively trying to understand how the industry is evolving, particularly at the intersection of technology, competition, and entertainment.

Preparing Students for Industry Reality

In advance of the Fair, SSBA hosted a dedicated Career Fair Workshop featuring Mark Gress Jr., Partner at Prodigy Search. The session gave students practical insight into preparation, networking, follow-up, and the realities of recruitment within sport and entertainment — reinforcing the Fair’s role as more than just a networking event.

Why Events Like This Matter

As sport, media, and entertainment continue to converge, with esports sitting squarely at that intersection, career pathways are becoming less linear and more interdisciplinary. Events like the Schulich Sports, Media & Entertainment Career Fair help students navigate that complexity while giving organizations direct access to emerging talent.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to participate and look forward to continuing conversations sparked at the Fair.
